PRAF Statement on Massachusett’s H1194/S1225

“We welcome the Massachusetts Health Committee’s unanimous vote to send dangerous, regressive bills H1194/S1225 to ‘study’, effectively killing the push for legalized doctor assisted suicide for the session.  We are grateful to Massachusetts Alliance Against Doctor-Prescribed Suicide, John Kelly and all of Second Thoughts Massachusetts, a cross disability coalition, Drs. Laura Petrillo, Mark Rollo, and the many doctors who spoke out on Beacon Hill and in the media, and to the thousands of allied individuals across the Commonwealth who actively opposed this legislation. Your voice was heard:  assisted suicide is not medical treatment. It is bad public policy that puts a great many at risk of deadly harm through mistakes, coercion, and abuse.”
