Thank Senator Kaine For His Advocacy Against Assisted Suicide

In a bipartisan, bicameral letter, Senators Kaine (D-VA) and Lankford (R-OK) and Representatives Correa (D-CA) and Murphy (R-NC) asked the Department of Health and Human Services to ensure vulnerable populations in states with legal assisted suicide are not being coerced or pressured to end their lives. They wrote, “We urge HHS and CMS to establish reporting requirements to monitor physician-assisted suicide for discriminatory practices and oversee compliance with federal funding restrictions within hospice programs. All hospice patients—regardless of disability, age or financial means—deserve compassionate end-of-life care that is free of coercion and discrimination.”

We are so grateful for these four legislators to make a clear stand and to clearly see that assisted suicide and disability are intrinsically linked. Unfortunately, Senator Kaine is on the receiving end of a campaign from pro-assisted suicide voices to try and pressure him to change his position. Will you take a moment to fill out this form and let his office know that, as his constituent, you are grateful for his actions?

This form will go directly to his health policy advisor and your voice as a constituent truly makes a difference.
